Urban Interiors opened in 2000, starting as a small studio/retail shop. I had one of the first staging companies in South Florida. Staging was a new concept here when we started, by the time it became popular, staging companies were popping up everywhere, and being constantly “shopped” by prospective clients who wanted to pay next to nothing, left me cold and I lost interest. Staging a vacant home is like moving in, then moving out when the place is sold. The amount of furniture, art and accessories needed to make the home look warm and inviting, along with the work involved in contrast to what many were willing to pay made it an uphill battle. I had a few loyal realtors and clients who were willing to take the chance, and satisfied, but as the competion became more and more, I lost interest and sold my business and decided to concentrate on residential design. I am so glad I did.
Prior to this I lived in Costa Rica for 19+ years where I designed and built several homes and did some remodeling, interior design work and had started several businesses, including Joyeria Cristal, 2 jewelery stores employing 13 + Costaricans. Living abroad for more than 25 years in several countries helped me to see and think out of the box as well as to realize even though people live differently thoughout the world, we all want to be safe, have shelter and be happy.
I love solid design concepts that include style and function and believe everyone should have a home that they never want to leave and when they do leave, can’t wait to go back, no matter what your budget allows.
I have always been in some kind of design related work, and probably always will be. I love change so who knows what will come.
